Friday Copy Service Update

Did you know that we did 26 million copies during the 2006-07 school year? September 2.9 million, October 2.5 million, January 3 milllion and May 2.9 million were our busiest months.

Please help us by putting the date you need the copies on your request form. It is helping us to determine what you need by Tuesday or Wednesday for the beginning of school. We try to get teacher work done the next day if you request it. Other requests like newsletters, booklets, spiral bindings and carbonless requests will take longer than 1 day. We will be working this weekend to get the copies out to you in the delivery.

Copy Service update

We have two new copy machines. Our staff is working very hard to learn to use them efficiently. Mary Ann, Suzanne and Judy are trying to catch up with the huge amount of requests that we received so far this week. Please be patient and if you can wait until next week, please send it then.

We are interviewing from the civil service list to find a replacement for Melissa who accepted a job in the maintenance department over the summer. We hope to be back to full staffing soon.

still unpacking

We have been here for two weeks. My desk is finally back together. The computer works and we are beginning to get organized. The building is awesome. As I walk down the hallways it is just so amazing that we are here. As we watched the building being built, I never imagined what it would finally look like. Teachers will officially be back next week.

The board voted to name this building the Cayuga Onondaga BOCES Regional Education Center, so you will begin to see that name as we move forward. We are planning for the Open House in September.

Our new media catalog is up and running. The address is media.cayboces.org. Teachers can log in with their name and school phone number. Booking can be done online and confirmations will be sent as e-mail. Please be sure to enter your e-mail address.

Getting Settled

We are here! The network, servers and phone system are working. Our fax machine is finally connected. Furniture is arriving daily. While all this has been happening we have been having training on the new media booking system. It is up and running and will be available to teachers soon.

New copiers have arrived and training is also taking place on them. It is exciting to be in the building.

The BIG Day is here!

Today is the day that we move the network connections. The new GIG POP will be online tonight if all goes well. Districts will begin to be connected to it next week and our new network will be a reality.

Phones go active in the new building tomorrow morning. The phone number and fax numbers will stay the same. We will report for work in the new building tomorrow. We have waited a long time for this and it is very exciting.

New New New

Today is training on the new phone system. On Friday, the phones will be transferred to the new building. The phone number will remain the same. The fax lines for Distance Learning and I.S.S. will also move on Friday. There will be a period of time when they will not be available (while we move them from here to there.)

Our new copiers will be set up on Thursday. The color copier has been moved. The old copiers will be moved in a few weeks. There will be some delays on copy service while we make the transition.

Move update

The move is going to happen next Friday, August 10. The phones and fax machines for our department will move on Friday. The numbers will stay the same. There may be a period of time on Friday when the fax number will not work due to the move.

Our WAN connection will move on Thursday August 9 after 4 PM. There will be some downtime for our e-mail, moodle and web servers, but we plan to have everything back up by Friday morning. Our streaming server, OPALS server and MediaNet server may be down for a longer period of time.
