LTAC meeting March 19

LTAC met in the distance learning room at 10 AM. Auburn, Cato-Meridian, Union Springs, Southern Cayuga, CNYRIC and CO BOCES were represented.

Ann discussed the updates to the OPALS library automation software including information on the SCOOLS catalog and Inter-library loan. She also talked about NovelNY and the changes in the databases that go into effect on April 1.

Mike showed the Ncomputing lab setup with 1 CPU and 6 users. It works quite well.

Linda discussed tech plans and for the districts at the meeting, they will need to have draft plans for 2010-13 completed by December 2009. The final plans and approval will be in Spring 2010. The approved tech plans and additional information from Nora are on the CNYRIC website

Rick gave an update on the RIC. They are going to be audited for e-rate. The CSAC meeting will be April 3. They are working with Apple about providing better service options. April 9 is the project deadline to send out proposals. E-mail archiving is being tested and will be available by July 1. They are piloting a team approach for customer support.

NovaNET is being purchased by Cato-Meridian and others are looking at it for 2009-10. Training for Auburn High is scheduled for the beginning of April.

Next meeting was changed to April 23 (regular date is during Spring Break).

Don mentioned that he is using Gaggle for student e-mail.

Mike showed the AverMedia document cameras that have been purchased to be used with the polycoms.

There was discussion about the buyouts in the copier world and what this might mean for service of machines that are no longer being sold by a vendor.
